8 Reasons to take a tour through the Panama Canal

The Panama Canal is the main commercial maritime route connecting the Pacific Ocean with the Atlantic Ocean. Crossing its 77km (around 50 nautical miles long) takes approximately 8 hours, but the complexity and, paradoxically, the simplicity of how it works leaves its visitors perplexed.
If you are still not convinced, we want to give you more reasons to do it:

1. Know how it works

Trying to understand how the locks, the anchoring zones, and navigation channels work is not the same as living it. This engineering work of art that unites and separates the Pacific and Atlantic oceans is really impressive up close.

2. Amazing landscapes

The Canal goes through Panama City, but since Panama is a tropical country, you will be able to appreciate the city and its natural contrast. You will never forget the beautiful scenery.

3. It is considered the 8th world wonder

The Panama Canal is one of the biggest human feats, not just because of its size but also because of the great number of ingenious solutions to the challenges that its functioning presented. As can be noted with the creation of its artificial lake (Gatún) used to separate the flora and fauna of both oceans to the maritime management.

4. The Biodiversity

The canal harbors rich diversity. Around it, there are thousands of acres inhabited by howling monkeys, white-faced capuchins, toucans, harpy eagles, sloths, and deer, among others. If you pay attention, you might capture them with your camera.

5. Other impressive infrastructures

Besides the Canal itself, there are other infrastructures at sight like the Americas Bridge, Centenario Bridge, and the Biodiversity Museum. You can see them from a distinct point of view during your Canal transit.

6. Imposing Ships

Around 14,000 of the biggest world vessels go through the Canal each year. These mega-ships are awe-inspiring with their overwhelming size, and even though you will have the opportunity to see other types of boats and vessels, these cargo ships definitely leave an impression.

7. A complete tour

If you choose to take a private charter, you will be able to enjoy from a comfortable boat where you can include your gastronomical preferences with a catering service. Undeniably, nothing is better than enjoying some amazing views with the best food and drinks.

8. Spectacular photos

The scenic views through the Panama Canal are an opportunity to take great pictures. You can have a mini photography session and take some memorable pictures.
