You must know this if you are going to travel to Panama

Panama is a beautiful destination. It is described as a tropical paradise where you can visit the most beautiful Caribbean and Pacific beaches. Moreover, it is a country full of friendly people and impressive attractions worth visiting.

If you are thinking of visiting Panama in the coming months, here is what you should know:

1. Tropical weather

Your suitcase should include sunglasses, a hat or cap and plenty of sunscreens. Panama’s climate, for the most part, is hot and humid. The temperature stays above 18 degrees Celsius.

2. Exquisite food

Panamanian cuisine has dishes that will always leave you wanting more. The customs and food result from the historical influence of Amerindian, Hispanic, African, Afro-Antillean, and American cultures.

3. Language

Its official language is Spanish, but English is the second language, and you will always find people fluent in other languages, as Panama has a large population of foreigners.

4. Location

Panama enjoys favorable geographical conditions. It connects the north and south of the continent. Besides being surrounded by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. So you have many paradisiacal destinations to visit.

5. You will be able to see whales

According to the UNDP, humpback whales travel 8,000 kilometers from Antarctica to the waters off Panama, where they can enjoy a moderate temperature. You can see them from a safe distance if you book a tour.

The Gulf of Panama “is witness to the longest journey made by a mammal,” says the organization. The whales come from two populations: those from Alaska, which arrive between January and March, and those from Antarctica, which arrive between July and October. In Panama, they reproduce and give birth.

6. Currency of Panama

Panama has two legal currencies; these are the dollar and the balboa. You can pay in both currencies, and you don’t have to worry because they are equivalent to the same amount. Therefore, even if you are a fan of collecting coins, you can take advantage and keep a balboa since they are not as common as they used to be.

7. Immigration Requirements

When entering Panama, you must have the following documents ready before the National Immigration and Naturalization Service Inspector of the Ministry of Public Security.

  • Tourist Visa authorized according to the case.
  • Ticket or return ticket to the country of origin or continuation of the trip.
  • Economic solvency required, which must not be less than five hundred balboas ($500.00) or its equivalent in credit card.
  • Passport or travel document valid for at least six months at the visa’s date.
