The spots between the southwest of the Pacific islands and their proximity to the underwater continental shelf, which is rich in nutrients, put Panama on the world fishing map. Trolling offshore for pelagic species such as marlin, mahi-mahi, and wahoo is among the best in this area. However, this is not the only fishing technique this zone offers, with tremendous inshore fishing available for popper and jigging enthusiasts.

The tour from Panama City to the beginning of Las Perlas is 35 nautical miles, around an hour and a half at cruising speed. However, another 40 nautical miles are required to reach the islands at the far south end, which are exposed to the open Pacífico Ocean.

The ideal charter is a multi-day trip that covers as many spots as possible; each area has unique species to target. Overnight accommodation can be arranged on board if you choose a liveaboard yacht, or there are several lodging options on different islands as your cruise progresses.
