Fishing is a sport, and it requires techniques, practice, and knowledge. If you haven’t started fishing yet, you may not know how many fishing techniques there are or what they are. However, we’re here to help. We bring you some of the most common and basic methods to fish like a professional.
Even if you’re a beginner, we have a special post you can check out: Fishing tips for beginners.
There’s no excuse not to start fishing now!

Trolling (or curricán)
Trolling is one of the most effective ways to fish. It not only fills the cooler, but it is also equally exciting for beginners and professionals. Today you’ll see how good preparation and a few tricks up your sleeve can make any trolling trip a success.
This fishing technique consists of dragging a hooked lure or bait through the water from a moving boat. You can have as many lines in the water as you want because the main goal is the same: you’re supposed to fool the fish into thinking your bait is moving like its prey.
You should pay attention when trying to find an excellent place to fish. Such as how to approach your fish. You can do this by using sonar to find schools of baitfish, looking for birds diving on the water, or tracking floating weed lines.

Casting
Casting refers to throwing the rod; it is the act by which the angler casts the bait and hook onto the water. It is generally done by throwing a fishing line handled with a long, flexible fishing rod. Basic casting is fairly simple. It’s about knowing when to release the lures at that perfect moment in the rod’s swing, but being good at casting is the key detail.
The basic form of a cast is to choose and aim at the spot where you think the fish is. Then, you use reasonable force to swing your rod and draw it behind you and toward your target, releasing the lure at the right moment so it goes in the chosen direction and the distance you want.

Jigging
Jigging is the practice of fishing using a jig, a type of fishing lure. A jig mainly contains a lead sinker with a hook molded into it, which is covered by a soft body to attract fish. Jigs are designed to create a jerky vertical motion, unlike most spinnerbaits, which tend to move horizontally through the water.
For successful jigging, the angler needs to use a good rod to feel the strike, stay in contact with the lure, and bring it to where the fish are. A jigging rod is usually shorter, has a long handle, and measures between 6 and 7 feet long.

Bottom Fishing (or bottom fishing)
Bottom fishing is the preferred technique of countless anglers, and it’s easy to see why. Known for fun, action-packed outings, it can produce catches of virtually any size.
At its core, bottom fishing involves lowering a weighted hook or lure to the bottom of the water column. Sounds pretty simple, right? But there’s more to it than that.
One of the things that makes bottom fishing so addictive is the fact that you can practice it in countless ways. Depending on the water you’re fishing and what you want to catch, you can choose from several fishing styles. You can use different baits and rigs and play with other presentations.
Hopefully, the information about these methods will help you the next time you go fishing.
