Frequently Asked Questions about the Bahía de Panamá Tours

If you’re thinking about booking the private yacht tour through Bahía de Panamá but have a few questions, here we answer some of the most common ones:

Can you swim in the bay?

The bay’s sanitation project is currently underway; however, it has not yet been completed, so we do not recommend swimming in the bay. At present, there are no public sanitary beaches in Bahía de Panamá.

Do the prices include the cost of fuel?

Yes. Fuel, passenger insurance, docking fees, and operational costs are included. Ice and fishing gear are also included.

Do the tours include food?

No. The tours include complimentary drinks (water, juices, Gatorades, and beers). Panama Gem Charters offers catering service at an additional cost.

Can the juices be changed to sodas (or other drinks)?

Yes, as long as requests are made in advance, we will do our best to accommodate you and personalize your trip.

Can food be requested to be included?

Yes; however, if it is a 2-hour tour, barbecue catering service is not offered, only pre-made snacks if desired. If it is a 4-hour tour, either option is available.

What does the menu include?

The regular Caribbean BBQ menu includes:

• Starter: Chips with dip / Fresh ceviche made with the catch of the day (if the group on board wishes to fish).
• Lunch: Beef and chicken skewers, corn on the cob, arepas, sausages.
• Dessert: 100% natural tropical fruit salad, mini donuts.

Can I bring my own food or drinks? Are there any additional charges?

You may bring your own food or drinks, including alcoholic beverages, at no additional charge. We only kindly ask that you do not bring glass containers on board for the safety of all passengers and crew.

Is there a discount if the boat is below passenger capacity?

No. Panama Gem Charters offers private yacht charter services, and the prices quoted are for the full rental of the vessel. This means you will have exclusive use of the boat, regardless of how many guests you invite on your tour. At this time, per-person passes are not offered for bay tours.

Can I play my own music?

Yes, all our vessels are equipped to connect via Bluetooth to the marine sound system. We recommend having the music you want to listen to downloaded on your device (mobile phone or tablet), since at a certain distance from the coast devices will not be able to connect to the mobile network.

What should I bring that is not available on the vessel?

Sunscreen; if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend bringing your medication; a change of clothes (you may get wet during the trip or while fishing); and if you request catering service, bring cutlery (spoons or forks) and disposable tableware (cups, plates, etc.).
