FAQ about the Taboga Island Tour

If you are thinking about booking the private yacht tour of Taboga Island and its surroundings but have some questions, here are some of the most common ones:

Is the Tour around the Canal included?

No, but you can add it to your route or add extra hours to your tour to complement it with a walk around the Canal on the way out or back from your destination and passing under the Bridge of the Americas.

Can you see whales in Taboga?

Technically, yes. During whale season (from June to November), whales can approach the coasts of Taboga Island and its surroundings. However, they mostly stay in more remote areas to protect their young, so we cannot guarantee that you will see whales on your Tour to Taboga. For whale watching, we recommend visiting the Pearl Islands.

Is the pool included?

No. Pool use is not included in the regular price to allow our clients to customize their trips. You can add a pool or kayak, depending on your preferences. Snorkeling equipment is included in all trips.

Do the prices include the cost of gasoline?

Yes. Gasoline, passenger insurance, docking, and operational costs are included. Additionally, ice and fishing equipment are included.

Do the tours include food?

No. The tours include complimentary drinks (water, juices, Gatorade, and beers). Gem Charters offers catering services for an additional cost.

Can juices be exchanged for sodas (or other drinks)?

Yes, as long as requests are made in advance, we will do our best to accommodate you and personalize your trip.

Can food be included?

Yes, you can choose the catering service Gem Charters offers on the 4-hour- or 8-hour tour.

What is included on the menu?

The regular Caribbean BBQ menu includes:

Starter: Chips with dip / Fresh ceviche with the day’s catch (if the group on board wishes to fish).
Lunch: Meat and chicken skewers, corn on the cob, arepas, chorizos.
Dessert: 100% natural tropical fruit salad, mini donuts.

*We offer Kosher and Vegan options as well

Can I bring my own food or drinks? Are there any additional charges?

You may bring your own food or drinks, including alcoholic beverages, without any additional charge. However, for the safety of all passengers and crew, please do not bring glass containers on board.

Is there a discount if the boat is under capacity?

No. Gem Charters offers private yacht charter services. The prices are for the entire rental of the boat. This means that you will have exclusive use of the boat, regardless of the number of passengers you invite to your tour. Currently, per-person passes are not offered on tours to Taboga Island.

Can I play my own music?

Yes, all our boats can connect via Bluetooth to the marine sound system. We recommend that you download the music you want to listen to on your device (cell phone or tablet) because, at a certain distance from the coast, the devices will not be able to connect to the mobile network.

What things should I bring that are not on the boat?

Sunscreen. If you are prone to dizziness, we recommend you bring your medications, towels, and a change of clothes. Bring cutlery (spoons or forks) and disposable tableware (glasses, plates, etc.) if you request catering service.
