8 Great reasons to try fishing

Have you ever considered fishing? We’ll give you 8 reasons why you should at least try fishing.

1. Stress relief:

Being around water is great for you.
Why? Because moving water produces negative ions (tiny charged particles) that boost the immune system, increase metabolism, and even regulate your sleeping patterns. They also help your mood a ton.

2. Social bonding:

Sharing the experience strengthens relationships with family and friends. The exchange of knowledge of the sport and emotions builds respect, trust, and empathy, and it creates fond memories.

3. Clean out your lungs:

Air pollution has a horrible effect on your body. Spending time in nature gives you an injection of clean air. Of course, a couple of hours of fishing at sea is not enough, but regular doses of fresh air can help improve your breathing and give your body a chance to recover. It’s a great reason to try fishing.

4. For food:

Wild fish are low in fat and cholesterol and high in protein, it’s packed with omega 3, and vitamin B12 (great for healthy nerves, blood cells, and DNA).

5. Get some vitamin D:

That awesome feeling of the morning sun on your face is a warming dose of vitamin D. Besides putting a smile on your face, it boosts your immune system, lets you digest the calcium properly (essential for strong bones and teeth), and speeds up healing.

6. Sport and Recreation:

Fishing offers a chance to improve your self-esteem by mastering outdoor skills and achieving personal goals. It is also a lifetime skill and activity suited for any age.

7. Exercise:

It may not seem like much of a workout, but that is the beauty of it. It’s low-impact cardio. You can build up your fitness level from zero, without overstraining your body. No gym needed.

8. Mental Health:

The setting (open water) has a natural meditative effect on the mind. Focusing on your bait also helps achieve mindfulness, and gives you that feeling of “being in the zone” which creates calm and fulfillment. Did you know that “fishing therapy” is a thing? It helps people battle anxiety and depression. It can even help with PTSD.
